# Museum Catalog Note
This magazine issue contains four mail-order business advertisements. The first promotes a Master Suction Grip Ash Receiver (a bakelite ashtray with suction cups for automobiles, homes, and offices), retailing at 75 cents with claimed 100-200% profits for distributors using four selling plans: direct consumer sales, dealer placement in retail establishments, circular distribution to parked cars, and mail orders. The second advertises Speedwriting, a phonetic shorthand system using standard alphabet letters rather than symbols, claiming students can master it in 72 hours and find secretarial employment. The third promotes a real estate investment system, claiming operators can earn thousands on individual property deals working part-time from home. The fourth announces a $1,000 reward challenging competitors' profitability claims.
