This January 1923 issue of Blue Book Magazine features two serials and twelve short stories. "Greene of the Gran Quivera" by J. Frank Davis, about the Southwest, opens the issue, while "Black Money" by J. S. Fletcher, a mystery novel, concludes it. Among the short fiction: H. Bedford-Jones contributes "Mostly Providence," an East Indies romance; Elmer Brown Mason offers "Red Eggs," a fantasy about golf in the Arctic; Robert S. Lemmon begins "Lucky Elkins, Drifter," a soldier-of-fortune series set in South America; Clarence Herbert New provides "Free Lances in Diplomacy," featuring international intrigue; and F. R. Buckley's "Down Again" concerns a pickpocket. Additional stories include Frank Richardson Pierce's "Icebound" (Arctic whaler mutiny), Charles Alexander's "Every Mountain" (wilderness dog story), George L. Knapp's "Poetic Injustice," Gene Markey's "Blinky" (cavalry officer on the border), Bertram Atkey's "Easy Street Experts," and William F. Sturm's "Harper Wins a Game" (basketball).
