The Blue Book Magazine, August 1922

· August 1922

August 1922 issue of Blue Book Magazine. This issue features Edison Marshall's novelette "Cold Steel," set in pioneer wilderness. The serial "The Evil Shepherd" by E. Phillips Oppenheim—author of international intrigue fiction—continues. Twelve short stories include Paul Fitzgerald's "A Child of Hermes," about a motor-obsessed boy born after a racing accident; Newell O. Morse's "The Gloria Makes Port," a sea story; Charles Phelps Cushing's detective tale "The Perfect Alibi"; a baseball story by Jonathan Brooks; Edward Mott Woolley's business fiction "Strategy Hawkins Talks"; and tales of Louisiana, Scottish traders in the South Seas, and mountaineer life. Clarence Herbert New contributes "Free Lances in Diplomacy," part of a series on geopolitical affairs. The issue also promotes Rob Wagner's forthcoming serial "A Girl of the Films" in Red Book Magazine, endorsed by Charlie Chaplin himself as cinema's greatest story. Advertising includes Pepsodent toothpaste and business self-help courses.
