Blue and Gray Weekly, No. 24

· January 20, 1905

This issue of Blue and Gray Weekly (January 20, 1905) features "Under Guard; or, Boys in Gray in Trouble" by Lieut. Harry Lee, a Civil War serial following Captain Will Prentiss and the Virginia Grays, a Confederate company sent on a scouting mission north toward Fredericksburg. The Grays find themselves trapped near the North Anna River, surrounded by Union forces including Percival's Brigade and General Henry's regiments. When scout Clements fails to return, Captain Prentiss investigates and captures a wounded Union soldier named Jonathan Ward, a Vermont native recovering from shell injuries. Ward reveals the enemy's positions and movements, indicating the Confederate company is encircled and that Percival's Brigade will move toward Fredericksburg in the morning. Prentiss must devise an escape plan for his trapped company.
