Beadle's Dime Library No. 782

· October 18, 1893

This issue of Leather-Stocking Magazine (Vol. LXI, No. 782) contains two serials. "The Neck-and-Neck Race with Rogues" by William H. Manning follows General Nathaniel Huntress, a decorated Army officer home on leave in New York. Consumed by shame over missing military documents concerning a Mexican revolution that he has concealed, Huntress receives a telegram from the Secretary of War demanding their return. Colonel George Benson will collect them the following morning. In desperation, Huntress asks his elderly loyal servant Boaz Tucker to become a burglar, seeking some unnamed means of salvation. His son Ralph arrives home late that evening. The second serial, "Royal Rock, the Round-up Detective," appears to continue from previous installments; Rocky Rock confronts someone claiming to take him prisoner while investigating a burglary at General Huntress's house where silver and other valuables remain untouched.
