# Rollo, the Boy Ranger: The Heiress of the Golden Horn

by Oll Coomes

A western adventure serial in which seventeen-year-old Rollo, a boy ranger equipped with rifle, revolvers, and saber, witnesses the execution of Dick Sherwood, a notorious white renegade and outlaw, at Clontarf's Post in Iowa territory. Sherwood had disguised himself as the Indian chief Rolling Thunder to infiltrate the settlement and abduct Miss Clara Bryant, but was captured and condemned to death. As settlers prepare to hang him in the forest, Rollo observes from the prairie and races to intervene. Meanwhile, a war party of Sioux Indians, led by the signal of Rollo's horn, descends on the post to attack during the men's absence. Rollo kills three warrior assailants in combat and rides to warn the settlement. The narrative blends frontier justice, Indian conflict, and a young hero's intervention in the proceedings.
