# Catalog Note

This February 18, 1928 issue of Argosy All-Story Weekly contains four ongoing serials, one complete novelette, and five short stories. The featured serial Blue Steel by Clay Bridger is a Western tale in three parts (Part One included here) introducing Ballou "Blue Steel" Steele, a legendary fast-draw gunslinger reluctant to use violence, whose estranged father runs the Lazy S ranch. The story opens with postmaster Dave Dibble noting Ballou's first letter to his father in a year, while discussing rising tensions between ranches—Steele's Lazy S and Tom Tolliver's Wagon Wheel—over poisoned water holes and cut fences. Other serials include Ray Cummings's science-fiction Beyond the Stars (Part Two) and Charles Francis Coe's The Evil Panorama (Part Six). The novelette is The Perfect Scheme by Gordon Mess. Additional contents include five short stories and poetry. The issue also features extensive classified advertising for jobs, mail-order products, and patent services.
