# Amazing Stories, October 1927
This October 1927 issue of Amazing Stories (Volume 2, No. 7) contains five science fiction works. Ray Cummings' "Around the Universe" depicts scientists in a space vessel observing another craft hovering above them in the firmament. H.G. Wells contributes "Epyornis Island," exploring encounter with prehistoric creatures. Kenneth Gilbert's "The Winged Doom" details an unspecified menace. Garret Smith provides the first part of a serialized story, "Treasures of Tantalus," concerning Professor Fleckner's telephonoscope device capable of seeing through walls and exposing criminal networks—though avariciousness and cunning counter-devices create global panic and terror. Jul. Regis offers "The Paradise of the Ice Wilderness." The issue includes editorial content and extensive trade advertisements for Metrodyne radio receivers and Coyne Electrical School.
