# Amazing Stories, January Issue: Contents

This pulp science fiction magazine features four primary stories. "The Red Dust" by Murray Leinster, a sequel to "The Mad Planet," depicts an alien world of gigantic insects and fungi—opening with warrior ants emerging from a hundred-foot-tall colony to forage and defend their queen. "The Man Who Could Vanish" by A. Hyatt Verrill concerns an inventor developing inorganic compounds. "The First Men in the Moon," Part II of H.G. Wells' serial, continues his lunar exploration narrative. "The Man With the Strange Head" by Dr. Miles J. Breuer presents another speculative tale. The issue also includes the third installment of "The Second Deluge" by Garrett P. Serviss, featuring protagonist Cosmo Versal's discovery of impending planetary submersion. Editor Hugo Gernsback contributes an editorial on scientific phenomena, examining electromagnetic rays from stars, Indian snake-immunity practices, and dense stellar matter.
