Gordon Young's "La Rue of the 88" begins a five-part serial about a changed man in the West. "Maud," a complete novelette, concerns World War privates lost and found. "Undesirables" depicts death at sea among the weak. "Nerve Enough" by Richard Howells Watkins offers a countryside aviation story. "Rovers Three" concludes with South Seas witch-doctors and bagpipes. John Murray Reynolds's "Sacred Bones" features a puzzled scientist in the American Desert. Arthur Gilchrist Brodeur's "Brothers-in-Arms," set in Old France, concerns treachery and loyalty.
