# ADVENTURE Magazine, March 30, 1922
This issue of the popular adventure pulp contains "King—of Kearsarge," a two-part serial by Arthur O. Friel. The story follows Donald King, described as a "two-handed man who fights to a finish," from his avenging shooting of a New York millionaire through his death-grapple with a half-breed in a burning cabin in the Northern snows. King's companions include Joe Dale, a sturdy old cripple; Pansy, a mountain maiden; and antagonists such as Red Hawkins, a lumber-camp bully, and Black Jules, a wilderness prowler.
The issue also features "How 'Modest Jim' Won the $50 Prize" by William Lawrence, a frame-narrative story about a shy boy who studied through correspondence schools and solved a technical problem, eventually rising to become the boss—illustrating the rewards of self-improvement through spare-time education.
