A Hand-book to the Game-birds
Ogilvie-Grant, W. R. (William Robert), 1863-1924 · 1896
# Lloyd's Natural History: Game-Birds
This volume, the second of a systematic handbook on game-birds, covers the order Gallinæ and related forms. Edited by R. Bowdler Sharpe and authored by W. R. Ogilvie-Grant of the British Museum, it presents detailed descriptions of pheasants (continued from volume one), megapodes, curassows, hoatzins, and bustard-quails. The work provides species accounts, taxonomic nomenclature, and comparative anatomy based primarily on specimens in the British Museum collection. Two species receive formal description: Whitehead's Bustard-Quail from Manila and Cholmley's See-See Partridge from Sudan and the Red Sea coast. The handbook includes colored plates and a comprehensive systematic index organizing all taxa with corresponding page references.
