Ana Mirallès
Ana Mirallès was born on 16 December 1959 in Spain. After earning a fine arts degree, she began her career as an illustrator for publishing houses before moving into bande dessinée. Her first comic work appeared in 1982 in the Spanish adult magazine *Rambla*, and her debut black-and-white album, *El Brillo de una Mirada* (written by Emilio Ruiz), was released in 1990. She is best known for her expressive, sensual artwork and her frequent exploration of erotic themes. Her first series was the *Eva Médusa* trilogy, set in 1920s Brazil, created with writer Antonio Segura and first published in 1991. She later reunited with Ruiz for *À la recherche de la Licorne* (1997), an adaptation of Juan Eslava Galán’s novel. In 2001, she launched *Djinn* with writer Jean Dufaux, which became her most widely recognized work. In June 2009, Mirallès became the first woman to receive the Gran Premio del Salón, the highest honor at the Barcelona Comics Festival. Her career has spanned over three decades, with credits as artist, colorist, and inker on titles including *Ava: 48 Hours in the Life of Ava Gardner*. She remains a significant figure in European comics, noted for her atmospheric linework and nuanced character design.
