About the series
In the late 1990s, Brazilian publisher Conrad brought the acclaimed Japanese manga Barefoot Gen to Portuguese-speaking readers under the title Gen - Pés Descalços. This four-issue series, based on Keiji Nakazawa's autobiographical work, starkly depicts the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima through the eyes of a young boy. It remains a landmark of historical comics, offering a powerful, unflinching account of war and survival.
