Out of the Night #1 (1953)

"Music of the Dead" follows a man who awakens in Florida's Big Cypress Swamp with no memory of how he arrived there, discovering he possesses superhuman strength and is being controlled by a mysterious supernatural force. A scientist and fossil expert become involved in investigating the killing that takes place near the swamp, while the protagonist struggles against the evil entity commanding him. The man manages to break free from the creature's control with assistance from others, and the story concludes with plans to return to a hotel and rest after the harrowing ordeal in the swamp.
