With help from Moxy and Urk, Max flees aboard the Terror, but when the planet’s financial collapse weakens Grymak’s grip, he’s tempted to abandon his duty for fame and fortune on Mega Vega’s Casinoid. Max goes to his mentor Tne for advice just as Grymak launches his coup; Tne is slain, but Max receives a sapling who continues to counsel him. Max, Moxy, Urk and the sapling escape Io aboard the Terror and evade Grymak's forces, but Max eventually decides he'd rather go to Mega Vega's Casinoid and become a rock star rather than retake Io. Grymak has difficulty maintaining his hold over Io as the planet is bankrupt. However, Mega Vega sells Max out to Grymak and his forces arrive on Casinoid.
