Pat takes an interest in the new guy at work, but he seems too shy to ask her out. As Valentine's Day approaches, she decides to write her feelings on a card and send it to him without signing it. As she is dropping the letter in the post box, Hugh sees her and asks her if she is posting a valentine to her favorite boyfriend. When she says no, he says he is glad she is so sensible since it is nothing more than a gimmick and would take a pretty dim view of it if he received one. Pat becomes worried that he will put two and two together to figure out that she sent the card.
