# Spunky #3 (1949) This issue contains "The Smiling Spook," featuring a magical frog character who uses magic paint to create boats and other objects. In one story, the frog paints a boat complete with wheels and launches it into the water. The comic also includes "The Battle o' Coconut Gulch," a Western tale in which Trigger's gang mistakenly believes their leader Popgun Pete has been killed by the Snake Pens Chew gang, leading to a violent confrontation until Trigger discovers Popgun Pete is actually alive. The issue concludes with a National Audubon Society advertisement promoting a nature photography program.
