Lee arrives at Emmy’s boarding house; he loves Claire, but she wants him to give up medical research and go into private practice. Claire decides to marry local doctor Stuart instead. Also living there are ex-boxer Jack, his wife Sally, and their young son. The boy has a bad fall and needs an expensive operation. Jack returns to the ring to earn the money but suffers brain damage. Lee successfully operates to save him, finds a free surgeon for the boy, and will marry Claire’s sister Betty.
