The chaos on this cover says it all — a mob of wide-eyed, snarling rats charges forward in a wonderfully anarchic stampede, one brandishing a hammer and another clutching a sign, while smaller rodents scatter in every direction. Philuc's cartooning has an irresistibly rubbery, madcap energy that makes this second volume of Rat's feel like pure mischief bottled up and ready to burst. Published by Humanoïdes Associés in 2008, it's a great entry point into one of French comics' most gleefully unhinged ensembles.
