My Girl Pearl #10

Pearl is having a blast at what appears to be a carnival shooting gallery — literally — as the blonde teen-age doll confidently works a rifle while a boy scrambles for cover amid a flurry of "BANG" and "POP" sound effects, much to the amusement (or alarm) of onlookers beside her. Her cheerful insistence that something's wrong with the gun, met with a bystander's perfectly timed retort, sets up the kind of lighthearted, laugh-out-loud comedy that made this Atlas/Marvel teen humor title such a charming read in 1961. Stan Goldberg and Sol Brodsky bring Pearl's larger-than-life personality to vivid life on this cover, making issue #10 a delightful snapshot of early-'60s teen comics fun.
