The second part of Jérôme and Anne-Claire Jouvray and Stéphane Presle's La Pès Rekin opens on a quietly striking image: two figures aboard a small motorboat — numbered PU-1792 — adrift on an expanse of pale, hazy sea, with what appears to be a dog resting at the bow. There's something both solitary and companionable about the scene, the open water stretching endlessly around them, hinting at a story rooted in the rhythms of the ocean and the people who live by it. Published by Futuropolis in 2011, this deuxième partie promises the same measured, human-scale storytelling the series brings to its seafaring world.
