Ides of Blood #2

This second issue of WildStorm's ancient Rome vampire series presents a striking cover by Michael Geiger — a fully armored Roman soldier in gleaming gold plate and crimson cape stands over the prone, pallid body of a young woman, the whole scene bathed in a blazing solar halo with shadowy spectral faces looming in the background. The blood-spattered title lettering and that ominous wolf glimpsed at the corner set the tone perfectly for Stuart C. Paul and Christian Duce's dark collision of Roman history and horror. It's a genuinely arresting image that makes "Beware the Ides of March" feel like a promise rather than just a story title.
