# Davy Crockett #8 The issue contains two stories. In the first, Davy Crockett pursues a lone female pilgrim who claims to need his help, but discovers she has robbed him and fled into the wilderness with his barrels of supplies. After tracking her down, he finds she has been injured and helps her recover. The second story, titled "Half 'Gator, Half Bar!," recounts a tall tale where Davy tells of encountering a man who is half alligator and half bear, having beaten the best swamp fighter in Kentucky by running into Dude Dickson, which leads to boastful claims about his own fighting prowess. The tale is framed as a frontier yarn told at a tavern gathering to other pioneers.
