# Crime Does Not Pay #65 An anthology issue containing multiple crime stories. "On the Level" by C.H. Moore recounts historical crimes and criminals, including an 1874 bank heist where four men were found in the vault of the N.Y. Savings Bank with steam engine attachments for cutting through the vault, a ring of counterfeiters in Milan caught making imitation American currency, the first recorded railroad train robbery in 1864 between New York and Boston where robbers stole $700,000 in gold, and Harvey Moore in Denver who dissuaded a stickup man by buying his gun for $5. Another story follows George Kelly's transformation from a "boastful dreamer" into a man of action through actress Kathryn Collins, leading to bootlegging operations and ultimately his downfall when his exploits catch up with him, while a parallel domestic storyline depicts Vernon Bodin's troubled home life and its eventual reconciliation.
