Issue #61 contains two stories: "Killers' Payoff," a true crime account of the November 1944 shooting death of Los Angeles liquor store owner James Scalo during a robbery attempt by bandits led by Benjamin Murphy, whose subsequent capture involved detectives Roy Davis and Stephen N. Tracy; and an untitled story about a woman who attempts to kill her husband Albert by staging accidents—including gas poisoning and carbon monoxide in a garage—but each plan fails, ultimately leading to the husband discovering her schemes and the plot unraveling when her son gets caught in the garage locking.
