This second volume continues the documentary account of the aftermath of the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, following the cleanup workers and local residents as they confront the ongoing challenges of decontamination and radiation monitoring. The series, grounded in journalistic research, offers a human-scale perspective on the technical and emotional toll of living in the exclusion zone.
The second issue of Au coeur de Fukushima (2016), published by Dargaud, continues the story with artwork and writing by Kazuto Tatsuta, who also handled the cover pencils and inks. The narrative follows characters involved in the aftermath of the Fukushima disaster, presented through a grounded, visually consistent style.
