Amar Chitra Katha #742
"Shankar Dev" tells the story of a man shaped by loss and devotion, raised by his grandmother after being orphaned, and driven by a deep inner calling to undertake a pilgrimage. Written by S. S. Apte and Gayatri Madan Dutt and brought to life with distinctive art by Souren Roy—pencils, inks, colors, and letters all by the same hand—the tale follows his return home, where his teachings attract growing followers. As his influence spreads, he faces exile twice, driven out by jealous priests and rulers, before finally finding sanctuary in Barpeta. The cover, by P. G. Sirur, captures the quiet dignity of his journey.
