Action Figure! The Adventures of Doonesbury's Uncle Duke #[nn]
“Pago Pago”
This 1992 collection from Andrews McMeel celebrates Doonesbury's most gloriously unhinged character, Uncle Duke, in a dedicated volume all his own. The cover by G. B. Trudeau says everything you need to know: Duke is shown in freefall, aviator shades firmly on, clutching a golf club in one hand and blazing away with an assault rifle in the other, while dollar bills and a second figure tumble chaotically through the sky around him. It's a perfectly distilled image of the man — equal parts mayhem, money, and misplaced confidence — and a fine invitation to dive into "Pago Pago" and the rest of his thoroughly questionable life and times.
