Published in 2020 by Balão Editorial, *Aconteceu Comigo* — subtitled "histórias de mulheres reais em quadrinhos" (stories of real women in comics) — is a deeply personal work entirely conceived and executed by Laura Athayde, from writing and art to colors and lettering. The cover, also drawn by Athayde, features a compact, confident young woman in glasses and a red hair accessory, her arm raised in a defiant, self-assured pose against a soft pink background — a warm and immediately inviting image that sets the tone for the real stories within. It's a wonderful example of Brazilian independent comics at its most intimate and human.
