But you are busily employed about partial powers, which he will not err who denominates diabolical (Samoa), For among these powers there is am- bition and vain glory; but in the gods there is nothing of this kind. Why do you apply yourselves to the disciplines of the Greeks, if reading your writings is suf- ficient for you? Though it is better to forbid men to read them, than to eat consecrated animals. For he who eats of these, as Paul says, is not at all injured; but the conscience of a brother who sees it may, according to you, be scan- dalized.
