# The Golden Argosy, April 14, 1888

This issue features "The Treasure Cave of the Incas" by G. M. Fenn, the opening chapters of an adventure serial. Young Harry resolves to seek his fortune in South America at his Uncle Reuben's sugarcane plantation, accompanied by his friend Tom Gilbert. After sailing from England to La Guayra via Havana, the boys arrive at the Venezuelan port where Tom nearly drowns attempting to fish for sharks with a string wrapped around his hand. The narrative then shifts to their lodgings ashore, where an earthquake strikes in the night, violently shaking the building. As the structure collapses around them, Harry and Tom desperately fight their way through rubble and darkness toward the window. The serial ends mid-action as Harry searches for Tom amid the earthquake's devastation.
