# Catalog Note

This weekly dime novel presents two interconnected frontier narratives. The lead serial, "Ebony Jim's Terror" by Oll Coomes, follows the abduction of Silvia Sanford during a staged Indian attack on a Union Pacific train in the Black Hills. The kidnapping is orchestrated by Duval Dungarvon, a Black Hills robber captain, and Blufe Brandon, a renegade Cheyenne chief disguised with false whiskers. Colonel Sanford—an experienced Indian fighter with cavalry service—pursues his daughter through the mountains. The second serial, "Ranger Rainbolt's Ruse," begins serialization. The narrative introduces Ebony Jim, a black man with whom Colonel Sanford shares mysterious history involving a woman named Florence Walraven taken to "Devil's Tarn" four years prior, and Flick O'Flynn, an Irish companion. The plot centers on rescue operations, recognition scenes, and frontier peril.
