Beadle's Dime Library No. 915

· May 6, 1896

This 1896 Beadle & Adams weekly presents "Go-Won-Go, the Red-Skin Rider; Buffalo Bill and the Surgeon-Scout," serialized by Colonel Prentiss Ingraham. The outlaw chief Quantrel tortures the demented miner Dan Darwin for gold-mine secrets in a Rocky Mountain canyon camp. Buffalo Bill's Scouts League—including Wild Bill, Jack Crawford, and the young Indian rider Red Butterfly—attack and drive Quantrel's gang (the Red Buzzards) over a cliff. Quantrel escapes by clinging to canyon rocks, vowing revenge. Now calling himself dead, he finds a stray horse and provisions. Meanwhile in New York, a beautiful woman preparing for a ball receives an unexpected visitor—her brother Frank Courtney, whom she believed dead, arriving by sailboat. The narrative intercuts frontier action with society-world intrigue.
