# Snowflake Sam's Double

This Arizona romance serial by Lieutenant A. K. Sims follows Snowflake Sam, a mysterious young stranger who overhears a plot in Flagstaff to dynamite a stage traveling through Glass Mountain Gorge and rob it of mining payroll. Racing against time, Sam obtains a horse and gallops through the pine forest toward the gorge, intending to give warning. He arrives ahead of the stage, hits a wire trigger that detonates a dynamite mine, is thrown unconscious from his horse—which dies in the explosion. The blast warns the stage's passengers: Benson (called the Ranch King), his adopted daughter Huldah, young daughter Irene, eccentric servant Moxie Wilmot, and Orrin Jude (the Rope King), a cowboy who helps repel outlaws with gunfire. Sam recovers and joins the group. The outlaws flee. Benson, who appears mentally unstable since his son Arthur disappeared fifteen years prior, invites Sam aboard for the journey to Mimbres Station and his ranch.
