# "The Red Warrior; or, Stella Delorme's Comanche Lover"
This is the opening serial installment by Ned Buntline published in Beadle and Adams's two-weekly periodical (ten cents per issue). The frontier adventure follows young Comanche warrior Lagona, who dreams of rescuing a pale-faced maiden. He discovers Stella Delorme, an eighteen-year-old captive bound for torture-execution by the Lipans, and abducts her on horseback. Stella's father, a Southern planter, leads a seventy-man force of Texas Rangers under Major McCullough in pursuit. When Lagona delivers Stella to the Rangers—claiming her for himself despite her father's presence—a standoff with pursuing Lipans ensues. The narrative emphasizes martial valor, wilderness landscape description, and melodramatic tension between Indian tribes and American frontier forces.
