Beadle's Half Dime Library No. 747

· November 17, 1891

This Beadle and Adams dime novel installment features "The Tandem Team of Teddy's Tailings" by Ed. L. Wheeler, author of the Deadwood Dick series. The story concerns a gold-mining camp named after its founder, Teddy Terhune, which developed when miners discovered riches in previously overlooked tailings and eventually struck the original deposit. The camp is governed as a cooperative mining combine led by Terhune.

The narrative introduces Split-nose Budge, a boisterous bullwhacker character, and Bud Roeble, manager of the nearby Ripe Pear Mine. The central action follows the unexpected arrival of a woman in red riding a tandem tricycle with a servant in bottle-green livery. Despite warnings from other miners including Roeble, the crude and belligerent Budge boasts he will kiss the mysterious lady when she arrives. The tricycle pulls up to the hotel, and the well-dressed woman greets the crowd graciously while Budge immediately approaches her with familiar behavior.
