This issue features "Too Much for Red Leary: The Story of the City Park Tragedy" by Dan Dunning (Secret Service Corps), beginning in Chapter I. A man named Martinez is robbed and murdered in Brooklyn's City Park on a stormy night by two criminals, one addressed as "Jack," who strangle him and sever his finger to steal a diamond ring. Secret Service officer John Austin ("Quiet Jack") discovers the body during an investigation into illicit whisky distilling operations in the Blissville area. Austin recognizes Martinez as an associate of the notorious criminal "Red" Leary. Working with fellow agent Philip Morris, Austin attempts to raid a suspected still-house, but finds it hastily abandoned with a "For Sale or To Let" sign. At the Red Light Saloon across the street, Austin encounters Leary directly and narrowly escapes a trap. Morris subsequently discovers whisky production continuing at a nearby Navy Yard lodging-house behind a shuffleboard room.
