The Systematic Use of Cylinders in Making the Shadow Test

· 1903

This is not a pulp magazine cover. The item is a medical offprint — a separately issued reprint of an article by Alexander Duane, M.D., of New York, extracted from The Ophthalmic Record, September 1901, republished 1903. Its plain cream wrapper carries only typeset title, author credit, and a circular library stamp; there is no illustrated cover, no painted scene, no cover-line typography, and no genre signaling of any kind. It belongs to the clinical literature of ophthalmology, not to the wood-pulp adventure tradition. No wall label for a pulp-magazine exhibition can honestly be written for this object.
