This weekly story magazine contains five serials in progress: Carolyn Wells's "Vicky Van" (Part I), Katharine Eggleston's "Little Boss of Big Ben" (Part II), Joseph Ivers Lawrence's "The Other Trent" (Part III), Douglas Grant's "The Fifth Ace" (Part IV), and Richard Barry's "Petroleum Prince" (Part V). One complete novel by Marianne Gauss, "The Man Who Must Be Hanged," runs to eleven chapters. Six short stories include "The Flying Chance" by Gordon McCleagh, Raymond S. Spears's "Red Hamblin Entertains," and others. The opening installment of "Vicky Van" introduces Chester Calhoun, a young lawyer visiting a sophisticated party at the Manhattan home of Vicky Van, a wealthy, witty young woman known for her gaiety and independent spirit.
