This issue of All-Story Weekly (September 22, 1928, Volume 198) features science fiction and adventure serials and short stories. Ray Cummings's "A Brand New World," a six-part serial, begins with the discovery of a new star near London in October 1952—actually a mysterious planet that triggers catastrophic consequences. The narrator, Peter Vanderstuyft, a news-gatherer for Amalgamated Broadcasters, learns of the discovery from his father, Professor Vanderstuyft. "The Crime Circus" by George F. Worts and "The Golden Traitor" by R. de S. Horn are continuing serials. Complete stories include Frank Richardson Pierce's "The Chinook" (lumber-country intrigue), stories by Tom Akers and George W. Piddington, Bob Davis's "The Boy Who Resigned at Sunset," and Will Thomas Withrow's "The Double Jinx." The issue also contains a Captain Mansfield article on waterspouts.
