# Amazing Stories, January Issue – Contents
This issue features five science fiction and speculative stories. Murray Leinster's "The Red Dust," sequel to "The Mad Planet," continues his vision of a distant future Earth dominated by titanic insects and fungus. The narrative opens with ten-inch warrior ants emerging from a vast ant-city, establishing the insect-centered world threatening humanity. H.G. Wells' "The First Men in the Moon" appears as Part II of its three-part serialization, while Garrett P. Serviss' "The Second Deluge" runs as Part III of a four-part serial, climaxing with the protagonist Cosmo Versal observing the Himalayas submerged underwater. A.Hyatt Ferrill contributes "The Man Who Could Vanish," and Dr. Miles J. Breuer authors "The Man With the Strange Head." An editorial by Hugo Gernsback surveys contemporary scientific discoveries—radioactive starlight, snake-paralyzing Indian medicine, neutronium particles, and the historical mystery of Kaspar Hauser—asserting that incredible science often precedes scientific fiction.
