Amazing Stories, Vol. 1, No. 12, March 1927 (February issue cover date). This pulp science fiction magazine edited by Hugo Gernsback features five stories: "The Green Splotches" by T.S. Stribling, depicting an interplanetarian spacecraft launch; "Under the Knife" by H.G. Wells; "The Hammering Man" by Edwin Balmer and William B. MacHarg; "Advanced Chemistry" by Clark G. Huckels; and "The People of the Pit" by A. Merritt. The issue concludes Part II of Edgar Rice Burroughs's serial "The Land That Time Forgot," following Bowen Tyler and Lys LaRue's encounters on the prehistoric island of Caspak and mysterious beings called the Wieroo. Upcoming features announced include A. Hyatt Verrill's "The Plague of the Living Dead," stories on platinum smuggling and inventive dining tables, and Poe's "The Balloon Hoax."
