# Amazing Stories, January 1927
This issue presents science fiction tales spanning speculative futurism to contemporary fantasy. "The Red Dust" by Murray Leinster—a sequel to "The Mad Planet"—depicts a distant future where insects have grown enormous and fungal growths dominate the landscape; humanity, now tiny, must contend with colossal arthropods and an inexplicable red dust threatening survival. Part Two of H.G. Wells's "The First Men in the Moon" serial continues the voyage narrative toward lunar exploration's conclusion. "The Man Who Could Vanish" by A. Hyatt Ferrill and "The Man With the Strange Head" by Dr. Miles J. Breuer offer additional speculative tales. Garrett P. Serviss's serial "The Second Deluge"—nearing its climax in Part Three—promises a surprising resolution: protagonist Cosmo Versal witnesses the Himalayas submerged, anticipating global catastrophe through unexpected mechanisms. Editor Hugo Gernsback's "Incredible Facts" column examines contemporary scientific claims: Swiss researchers detecting unusual stellar radiation, Indian snake-immunity treatments, dense star matter, and the historical mystery of Kaspar Hauser.
