# Amazing Stories, October 1926

This issue of Amazing Stories (Volume 1, No. 7, October 1926) contains five serialized works spanning science fiction and fantastic adventure. "Beyond the Pole," first installment by A. Hyatt Verill, depicts explorers encountering lobster-like creatures in a polar domain. Garrett P. Serviss concludes "A Columbus of Space," a three-part serial involving interplanetary travel. Jules Verne's two-part "The Purchase of the North Pole" reaches its conclusion, while H. G. Wells's "The Island of Dr. Moreau" begins its serialization, presenting the beast-people on their island. The standalone story "Blasphemers' Plateau" by Alexander Snyder completes the fiction offerings. The issue's editorial by Hugo Gernsback discusses imagination's role in technological progress, comparing speculative fiction to actual innovation. Cover art depicts the creature from Verill's story encountering humans.
