These wood-pulp magazines trafficked in exotic locales and survival narratives, their painted covers advertising tales of exploration, danger, and adventure in remote territories. Adventure was among the most successful—running from 1910 to 1971—and established conventions that shaped the adventure and weird fiction genres that later fed into comic books and superhero narratives.
