Adventure, November 1915

· November 1915

This debut issue of Adventure magazine (November 1915) features "The Gold Lust," a complete novel by J. Allan Dunn about three financially ruined friends—architect Jim Winton, law student Archer Addams, and Winton's sister Peggy—who learn of buried treasure worth three-quarters of a million dollars in gold dust and nuggets hidden in California. Addams discovered the secret from an elderly former pirate he befriended, who claims to have buried the gold decades earlier. The friends face the prospect of searching for it, with Addams revealing hints of danger ("we may have to fight for it"). The issue also includes short stories by Robert J. Pearsall, Hugh Pendexter, Gordon MacCreagh, Arthur Somers Roche, and others; serial installments; and adventure and outdoor-themed content.
