# Catalog Note: ACTION STORIES (1926)
This monthly pulp contains four complete adventure stories and several shorter pieces. Victor Rousseau's novelet "Sand and Diamonds" opens the issue, set in South Africa's Bechuanaland. Two mounted police officers disappear while patrolling the Ngami district; their superiors suspect foul play rather than desertion. Sergeant Evans is dispatched to investigate the mysterious vanishings. Kenneth Gilbert's feature novel "The Menace of Mastodon Valley" depicts a white explorer encountering prehistoric jungle dangers. Frank Richardson Pierce's "Pink Lady" concerns an Irish feuding dispute and a practical joke aboard a naval vessel. Additional short stories include "Carry On!" by John C. Cudoba (military service), "The Winged Ones" by H. Field Leslie (treasure-hunting action), "The Killing at Dead Man's Run" by Howard E. Morgan (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), and "All Clear" by Douglas Oliver (military hierarchy). The issue features action across colonial territories, the American frontier, and naval settings.
