# "Snatched from the Brink"

A domestic drama set in suburban Leamington. Miss Catherine Dane hosts her headstrong niece Sidney, whose father Colonel Dane is expected to return from India. Sidney has been secretly visiting the Lightwoods and Captain Fred Forrester, a man her father expressly forbade her to associate with in India. When Colonel Dane's letter arrives unexpectedly from Southampton, warning that Sidney must cease contact with the Lightwoods and Forrester, the deception is exposed. Interrogated by her aunt, Sidney reluctantly yields to obedience but reveals deep inner conflict about matters she cannot discuss. The atmosphere grows ominous as evening approaches with gathering thunder. Sidney retires to her room, claiming a headache, but her behavior suggests hidden troubles beyond her father's disapproval.
