# The String of Pearls: Thirty Poems on Bible Truths
This collection of thirty religious poems by W.P. Chevalier, published by Constitution Publishing Company in Atlanta, Georgia, presents narrative and reflective verse on Christian theological themes drawn from Scripture. The poems, each prefaced with biblical citations, explore Christ's sacrifice and redemptive love ("Real Love"), Christ's example as spiritual guide ("Footprints on the Sands of Time"), and scripture's guiding function ("The Guiding Light"). Additional subjects include divine promises, judgment, the millennium, resurrection, temptation, and Christian suffering. The work opens with extended meditations on Christ's passion and resurrection, rendered in sustained narrative couplets, progressing to themed treatments of biblical doctrine. The author states his aim in the preface as placing "pearls of truth" from Scripture "in the gilded frame of rhyme" to benefit readers spiritually. The collection represents nineteenth-century devotional verse for general Protestant readership.
